11th Heaven

February 14, 2009 marked our 11th anniversary. I realize how young Brent and I were when we married. We felt so grown-up, but the years have shown me that we were just kids! But marriage has been pretty amazing. I was telling Brent last night that I used to believe that marriage and kids limited opportunities. But my horizons have expanded so much with our marriage and our children. I've always had wanderlust, but Brent was the one who really helped make it possible for me to travel. And the kids have never really impeded my dreams. In some ways, they've focused my ambition more.
Anyhow, our anniversary fell on a Saturday. We hadn't planned anything special because I had to work. We planned on a nice dinner when I wasn't busy at my job. When I came home from a full day of teaching piano lessons, I was completely surprised by the quiet, intimate restaurant that had been established in our living room. The table was nicely set, the servers, see below, were well-prepared to meet our every desire. The chef (aka Brent) had prepared my favorite homemade ravioli, french bread, delicious salad and vegetables. The evening ended with an exquisite serving of chocolate brownie fudge ice cream. It was a delightful surprise and the food was amazing.
